Improving quantum-noise reduction with spatially multimode squeezed light
We consider the squeezed vacuum state emitted by a degenerate optical parametric oscillator below threshold. We show, by using a confocal cavity and an appropriate matching lens, that the observed level of squeezing can become largely independent of the spatial intensity configuration of the local-oscillator field. © 1997 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(97)01002-3] PACS number(s): 42.50....
متن کاملObservation of squeezed light with 10-dB quantum-noise reduction.
Squeezing of light's quantum noise requires temporal rearranging of photons. This again corresponds to creation of quantum correlations between individual photons. Squeezed light is a nonclassical manifestation of light with great potential in high-precision quantum measurements, for example, in the detection of gravitational waves [C. M. Caves, Phys. Rev. D 23, 1693 (1981)10.1103/PhysRevD.23.1...
متن کاملSqueezed light at 1550 nm with a quantum noise reduction of 12.3 dB.
Continuous-wave squeezed states of light at the wavelength of 1550 nm have recently been demonstrated, but so far the obtained factors of noise suppression still lag behind today's best squeezing values demonstrated at 1064 nm. Here we report on the realization of a half-monolithic nonlinear resonator based on periodically-poled potassium titanyl phosphate which enabled the direct detection of ...
متن کاملPhonon squeezed states: quantum noise reduction in solids
This article discusses quantum fluctuation properties of a crystal lattice, and in particular, phonon squeezed states. Squeezed states of phonons allow a reduction in the quantum fluctuations of the atomic displacements to below the zero-point quantum noise level of coherent phonon states. Here we discuss our studies of both continuous-wave and impulsive second-order Raman scattering mechanisms...
متن کاملEfficient spatially-resolved multimode quantum memory
We propose a method that enables efficient storage and retrieval of a photonic excitation stored in an ensemble quantum memory consisting of Lambda-type absorbers with non-zero Stokes shift. We show that this can be used to implement a multimode quantum memory storing multiple frequency-encoded qubits in a single ensemble, and allowing their selective retrieval. The read-out scheme applies to m...
